Premiere: You Are There

The choral version of “You Are There” was premiered June 29, 2008 by the Synaxis Choir at Jersey Baptist Church under the direction of Mark Hutsko with soloist Emily Williams. The original solo version of You Are There was written for Dennis Roden, Music Director at Our Lady of Peace Church, for his final Sunday of worship. After working together for several years, we both moved on to new stages in our lives. The text, from Psalm 139, was a reminder that no matter where either of us went, God would still be there.

Premiere: The Fall

The Fall was written for pianist/composer James Praznik. I met Praznik at the University of Akron, where we became involved in a number of collaborations as well as simply enjoying each other’s company. The premiere performance took place in Weigel Hall at The Ohio State University on May 6, 2008. Praznik plans to record this piece in the summer.

Premiere: Eastern Pinnacle

Eastern Pinnacle for Clarinet and CD was premiered during the Johnstone Woodwind Master Series III on May 1, 2008 by clarinettist Colleen Tryon. The premiere took place on Weigel Stage at The Ohio State University.

Benjamin Williams‘ Two Dead Men and Life Sculpture were premiered by the University of Akron Men’s Chorus April 25, 2008. These pieces were commissioned by Jesse Lange, director and founder of the ensemble.
